Bankruptcy can happen to anyone, and it could even be unavoidable for some. You need to move past the fact that it happened and just find a way to rebuild credit. For many people, this will need a change in economic philosophy and spending habits. Below is a list of ways to rebuild your credit after bankruptcy.

Stick to a budget

The most important part of rebuilding credit after bankruptcy is sticking to a budget. One must pay every bill on time, never make a late payment and no more negative marks on your credit report appear. Learning what the budget allows is important, since your borrowing power has changed even if your income has not. Getting credit just after bankruptcy will cost you more in finance charges and annual percentage fees. Living within ones budget starts with awareness. So, write it all down by making a chart or spreadsheet and whatever is available for a given item, stick with it, don’t budge and don’t get any more negative reports.

Image Courtesy of bankruptcy lawyer via Flickr.

Get a high-rate or secured credit card.

It is possible to get a credit card soon after bankruptcy and using it can put some positive marks on your credit report. One can get a credit card after bankruptcy, usually with a higher rate or by securing–depositing money that backs every penny you charge to the card. Remember to pay off the credit card every month, don’t carry a balance and account for these payments in your budget. The secured card is not like a check or atm card, one must still make the minimum payments. If one can successfully use any of these cards, positive marks appear on your credit report.

Take a small personal loan.

Remember, creditors are looking for positive marks on your credit report. It is critical to build it up once again, despite having bankruptcy on your credit report. Taking out a small loan which you include to your new budget helps a lot. These loans will likely have a higher rate than before because of your bankruptcy, but it can go a long way in positively changing of your credit report after bankruptcy.

There is no one magic move that fixes your credit after bankruptcy. to effect the credit score a clear plan and working month by month restoring trust in ones use of credit is the key. It will take time and effort. If the intent is to use credit in the future, it is worth regaining the trust.

Getting a new apartment can be an exciting time for anyone, but there is a note of danger to it. While it’s great when you find some luxurious amenities or when your commute is cut in half, you also have to look out for potential safety problems and not having anything nearby to do on the weekends. Ultimately, when you are looking for a new apartment you need to check it out first and decide on the following things.

Your Commute

How far is the apartment from where you have to go on a regular basis? If the nearest grocery store is halfway across town and your workplace is even farther in the opposite direction, you’re going to be annoyed more often than you’re satisfied with this living arrangement. Unless the place is really great and cheap, you might want to consider renting on another place.

Your View

A lot of people don’t think much about the view in apartments in Baltimore, but it’s the most unique trait of any place. What will you gaze out at when you’re just chilling and glancing out the window? A lake or a park is good. A brick wall or a dumpster isn’t so awesome. Think carefully about the view before you sign the lease.

The Floor Plan

How well is the place laid out? In a lot of cases you’ll find that the apartment is just okay, but it can bother you a lot down the line. Never underestimate what a good floor plan can do to make your quality of life better. A bad floor plan can lead you to stumbling around in the dark looking for the bathroom at night, or hunting around to find things in spite of having a place for everything.

The Neighborhood

Do you feel safe in the place’s neighborhood? Is this a high crime area, or would you be happy to walk around it at 3 a.m. with $20 bills dangling from your pockets? This is important because nothing ruins your day quite like having your car broken into or having shady people stare at you like dessert while you walk into or out of your apartment.

The Building’s Security

Even the best neighborhood needs some degree of security. Without it, crooks from other areas will just waltz up and burglarize the whole place at their first convenience. A secure building tends to have video cameras, security lights and metal-framed doors that lock separately from your main door.

When you go to find an apartment, you have a lot of things you need to think about. When you look at the neighborhood, the building’s security, the floor plan and your commute, remember how much each of these will impact your life while you live in the place. Even the view from your apartment is going to affect your quality of life, so consider all of these things carefully.

Turn off the television. Shut the laptops. Put away the iPads, iPods, and iPhones. It’s time to reconnect as a family without the help of any electronic devices.

You’re going to have some good old-fashioned fun, as it is time for a Family Game Night.

Benefits of Regular Game Nights

Playing board games is the perfect way to connect a family (especially a family with multiple age groups). It’s also the perfect way to beat the cabin fever blues: when it’s too cold to go mini-golfing or play soccer in the backyard, a family can gather around the fire with a game of Scrabble or Clue. Best of all, family game nights are the perfect way to reconnect a busy family with conflicting schedules.

Expand Your Game Collection

If the only two board games you have are Monopoly and Trivial Pursuit, you’re going to get bored of weekly game nights really fast. Here’s a breakdown of some of the most popular board games on the market to help you expand your collection.

Clue. This classic “whodunit” mystery game is fun and challenging for the whole family. It’s a terrific choice for families with mixed age groups. If you’ve got a family of young children, you may want to consider Clue Jr. as an alternative.

Settlers of Catan. This strategy-based tile game is a lot less intensive than high-strategy games like Risk, so it’s a good compromise for strategy lovers and those less strategically minded. Players compete to gain resources and build roads, towns, and armies. The game is fun and relatively easy to learn once you master the setup rules. It’s also a terrific game for families with older children (pre-teens and teens).

Apples to Apples. This card game is one of the hottest party games ever invented. Players compete to win the favor of a rotating judge by choosing nouns that best fit a particular adjective in play. This hilarious game isn’t as much about knowing the game as it is about being familiar with the judge…and you can expect to end most rounds in fits of laughter.

Fluxx. This fast-paced card game operates under one principle: there are no rules. The rules are constantly in “flux,” making it impossible to hold up a long-term strategy. Since you learn the game’s rules as you go (they’re printed on each card you play), it’s easy to introduce new players to the game. This is another terrific game for mixed age levels. In fact, Fluxx is so addicting that you may find Mom and Dad playing when the kids aren’t home.

Don’t stop here: take a look at the best board games for 2012 to find out which are this year’s hottest new games. Soon those same teens who were groaning over Family Game Night will be the ones begging to play just one more round of Apples to Apples or Fluxx.

There are many options available for people who are looking for additional funds. However, two of the most widely used options are credit cards and installment loans. While they both share vast popularity, these two options are very different, and are thus used for different situations. Here is a short overview of each, and the different ways that they are commonly used.

Image via Wikipedia

What is an Installment Loan?

An installment loan is a loan for a varied amount of money. They provide a structured repayment plan that consists of an equal monthly payment spread over a set time. The payment includes the interest of the loan, providing a unique transparency to the borrower that makes the monthly payments easy to manage. Due to the ease of access to funds through installment loans, they are most commonly used in situations that require fast funding.

Below are some of the most common reasons that people turn to installment loans.

Urgent Utility Bills. Installment loans are regularly used to cover urgent utility bills such as water, electric or gas that are on the verge of disconnection.

Unexpected Medical Expenses. An unexpected medical expense is not only stressful, but overwhelming on immediate finances. Installment loans offer an easy solution to cover co-pays and deductibles that you might not have the funding for presently.

Avoiding Late Fees in Between Payday. It is easy to rack up droves of debt through late-fees associated with late payments. You can avoid such late-fees in between pay periods by utilizing an installment loan for a quick and easy cash advance.

What Are Credit Cards?

Credit cards differ from installment loans primarily in how they are structured. They function as a consistent line of credit that can be run up, and then paid off for repeated use.

Credit cards are most often used in a non-emergency manner. They help consumers purchase products or services that might be out of their budget by using their credit limit of the card to cover the tab. Consumers then have the option to pay down the balance by making minimum monthly payments, or paying it down completely to avoid covering too much interest. Unlike installment loans, credit card payments vary from month to month depending on the balance on the card.

The differences between credit cards and installment loans are very important to note. When the time comes for you to decide between either, consider this information to make sure you choose the right option for your situation.

No one can contest the fact that Hawaii is an expensive state. Since most things have to be shipped in, literally, most goods are at a premium on their best day. However, just because a state is expensive to be in doesn’t mean cheap flights have to be mere flights of fancy. You can still get a great deal on the plane trip, even if you admit to yourself that being there is going to be pricey.

Image via Flickr

Plan Ahead

You won’t find cheap flights without looking for them. While it would be great if awesome deals came to you, they typically won’t. So you need to think ahead about when you intend to go on your vacation. If you are planning to go when everybody else is going, specifically November to March, you’d better be prepared to pay the full “retail” price.

However, a little willpower and some planning can go a long way. If you are willing to go during the spring or summer months, you can reap the benefits of a lower price and less intense heat. Not to mention the fact that since the tourists won’t be out in as large a force, you will be able to spend more time on the beach and less time getting distracted by hawkers trying to sell you “authentic” junk.

Shop Around

Remember to look around for tickets to your cheap Oahu flights. While it might be tempting to just go to one website and plunk down your money for the first deal that you can afford, a few more minutes of research can yield a tremendous amount of additional savings. While you don’t need to search all night, you do need to make certain you have at least looked at a few different deals.

Don’t Be Afraid to Spend

You work all year for the money to take a nice vacation. At some point, you should either put your money into your “rainy day” fund or shell out for something really special. This is called conscious spending, and it’s okay. As long as you are being responsible and saving on other parts of your life, it is all right to spend on a great Hawaiian vacation. For instance, you can take cheap Oahu flights and stay in nicer hotel rooms.

When you go to Hawaii, you’d better be ready to spend. It is an expensive place; but despite the expense, you should always look for a good deal on expenses like your flight and lodging. Whatever you do, don’t try to get cheap on your vacation. Relax.

Children are an extraordinary blessing, but raising a child takes a lot of patience, imagination, a good dose of courage and a lot of financial planning. Of course, the stark reality of the financial commitment that child-rearing entails also goes beyond its appeal. Most parents already find it hard to provide make ends meet so they usually enter a state of panic whenever unforeseen expenses arise.

This is especially true for parents who have less-than-perfect credit scores. Most lenders require a credit rating of 620 or better so you might have a hard time qualifying for a loan if your scores are lower than that. Fortunately, short-term loans do not enforce thorough credit checks so you can apply for one regardless of your current credit rating.

Image via Flickr

Choosing a Reputable Lending Company

The first step to getting a short-term loan is to look for various lending companies online. Now that most companies already have websites that explain the loans they offer in detail, you will no longer need to get out of your house and drive around town to compare their rates. Compare at least five companies that cater to the needs of people with bad credit before making a decision.

Do not fall prey to fly-by-night companies that are only in the business for your money. Look for legitimate institutions that can provide you with a small amount of cash that you can easily repay when the pay period arrives. If you are completely unfamiliar with loans, you may want to get a personal loan from Plain Green Loans, a state-licensed company with a hassle-free online application process.

Short-term loans vs. Other Types of Loans

At first glance, credit cards and long-term loans might seem better than short-term installment loans. However, it is actually more practical to apply for the latter because it does not come with high interest rates and other hidden costs. In addition, installment loans will only take a few hours to process, so you can easily get enough money to pay for emergency expenses.

Gone are the days when you have to fix your credit scores and visit several companies before applying for a loan. With short-term installment loans, you can easily borrow enough money that will put an end to the temporary emergency-induced financial crisis that you are facing. All you need is an email account, a checking account and a regular source of income to qualify for these loans and get quick cash for unexpected expenses that you can’t delay any further.

If you’re looking to visit one of the most beautiful and culturally vibrant cities on earth, do not overlook Vienna, Austria. Known to the natives as Wien (pronounced with a “V”), this metropolitan city comprises 23 districts, radiating out from the first district at the center. The center districts are home to most of Vienna’s political and cultural structures, so if your stay in Vienna is short, concentrate your touring in this area. Here’s a look at some of the wonders of the heart of Vienna.

Image via Wikipedia

St. Stephan’s Cathedral

St. Stephan’s Cathedral (Stephanskirche or Stephansdom) is in the center of the first district. Founded in 1137, this icon was at one point in its history the tallest structure in Europe. It witnessed both the wedding and the funeral of the great musician Mozart. This cathedral has survived several fires and has been reconstructed to even greater glory after each rebuilding. The roof of the building is covered in multi-colored tiles, giving it a distinctive and eye-catching appearance.

The inside of this cathedral is just as beautiful. The baroque High Alter depicts the stoning of St. Stephen, the patron of the church. The Wiener Neustadt altarpiece is composed of two triptychs with gilded wooden figures depicting the Virgin Mary between St. Catherine and St. Barbara. The stone pulpit is unusually placed; instead of standing in the front of the church, it stands against a pillar out of the nave. This position made it easier for the congregation to hear the sermons.

State Opera

As a historic music epicenter, you can’t overlook the sites of Vienna’s great musical heritage. Mozart, Beethoven, Mahler and Hayden all lived and worked in Vienna. The State Opera (Staatsoper) was built in the first district in 1869 in the Neo-Renaissance style. The halls and theater of the opera are lavishly decorated in red, gold and ivory. The theater houses an exquisite chandelier that is almost 23 feet in diameter. Pick up an opera schedule while you are visiting to see which opera or ballet is running. If you don’t mind standing throughout the show, inexpensive standing-room tickets are available, requiring only casual attire. Operas are performed in the original language, but translation screens are provided.

Image via Wikipedia

Museums

Two famous museums are located in Vienna’s seventh district in a region called Museum’s Quarter (Museumsquartier). Home to a wide range of museums, the two most recognizable buildings in this quarter are the Museum of Natural History (Naturhistorisches Museum) and the Museum of Art History (Kunsthistorisches Museum). The two museums are a pair; they have identical exteriors and face each other across Maria-Theresien-Platz. Art and natural history lovers will find hours of entertainment in these two massive houses of history.

Traveling through Vienna to see these amazing sights will be even more convenient if you choose a car hire service. So, rent a car and get to sightseeing!

Image via Wikipedia

As a therapist in the speech pathology employment field, you will be responsible for helping your patients relearn skills that they have either lost or perhaps never learned. One of the best ways to help them grasp the concepts that you are trying to teach is to use reading materials to supplement your regular method of therapy.

Reading together during your therapy sessions is a great way to help your patient learn how to use the words you are teaching them in the correct context. Simply teaching them single words may be an effective way to help them sharpen their memorization skills, but it often leaves the patient unable to understand the social cues that are associated with the word or phrase.

There is no wrong age to start reading out loud with your patient – literacy is a valuable skill and can be taught at any age. While you are working in speech pathology employment, you will probably find that reading materials are more useful in certain situations – like helping autistic children. You can use flash cards and small books, as well as a variety of other reading materials to enrich almost any therapy session.

One of the most important things to remember when you are supplementing with reading materials is that you can’t allow yourself to get ahead of your patient – let them practice and learn at their own pace, don’t start doing all of the reading for them. There are two different ways to teach literacy – you can read along with your patient, or you can have them read alone while you follow along.

Education is important, but not everyone is able to go away to college to learn. This could be because they can’t afford the costs of living away from home. Or it could be because they can’t afford to quit their job and so they need something that is flexible. Whatever the reason, there are now ways for students to attend college online. Here are some tools needed by these online learners:

Computers

The first thing that is needed is a computer. Many students choose to purchase laptops because they are portable, allowing the student to take them to work, the library, and home. They’ve also become very affordable in the past few years, making it easy for students to purchase them. It’s standard now for laptops to come with Wi-Fi, allowing students to connect anywhere where there’s a hotspot. This makes doing homework very convenient.

E-Readers

With so many programs now available online, including getting a master degree at EarnMyDegree.com, textbooks are also becoming virtual. This is a great advantage to the students because it allows them to carry their “books” without breaking their backs. It also allows them to search for keywords, making studying for tests easier.

Going to college has never been easier. It used to be that students had to rearrange their whole schedules in order to attend classes. Now students just have to go online, which makes getting a degree very convenient, whether for a bachelor’s degree or beyond.

Children and young adults don’t always love reading; many prefer video games or television to picking up a book. If you’re a parent of a reluctant reader, take strides to encourage them to develop an interest in reading. Recommend books for them that are ideal for reluctant readers; these books have accessible, engaging storylines and are written for readers who aren’t yet comfortable with reading difficult books. Here are a few books that are good for reluctant readers.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid

This beloved series by Jeff Kinney follows the middle school student Greg Heffley as he details the difficulties of being a scrawny pre-teen. When his best friend Rowley joins the popular crowd, he must take great strides to keep his friend. Comic illustrations are included throughout the book and will help keep kids entertained.

Frindle

Frindle, by Andrew Clements and Brian Selznick, features the mischievous ten-year-old Nick Allen, who routinely aggravates his fifth-grade language arts teacher, Mrs. Granger. He must write a report on how new entries are added to the dictionary, and, while writing it, he decides to coin a new word: frindle, his new word for pen. Soon everyone in the school is using the word, and the word’s popularity sweeps the nation.

Wintergirls

Wintergirls, by Laurie Halse Anderson, is for young adult reluctant readers. It features intense emotions and vivid language and covers a topic that is relevant to teen girls. Wintergirls is the story of Lia and Cassie, who had been best friends since grade school. Each of the girls has an eating disorder, and, after Cassie commits suicide, Lia’s guilt and her need to be thin become nearly unbearable.

Educators sometimes complain about the difficulty in getting middle school children interested in reading and writing. Kids around the age of 11 and 12 years old may do just enough to get by and finish homework. This is not however sufficient interest and no where near the optimum goal of having these kids entertained by reading and writing. If you are a parent or educator who is looking to get a child more interested in reading. Here are a few places you can start.

First, identify reading material that is of interest to the child. If your child is into cars, find them fiction based on driving cars, biographies or autobiographies of famous racing personalities, or car and driver magazine. The fact is it just does not work to hand a kid a literary classic and expect them to get interested in reading. Instead, ease them into the heavy material by getting them hooked on reading with something they enjoy.

Second, if you know a child who is very uninterested in reading and rejects the notion out of hand, it would be good to get their reading ability tested. There are a number of issues that make reading difficult to some individuals and rather than let anyone know what they are dealing with, they simply internalize the problem. Naturally, they have no interest in reading as they don’t want to draw attention to the problem. This is where you can step in and help.

Middle school is a great time to explore reading and for kids to begin to develop his or her own stories. Encourage your little reader today.

Whether you are trying to put together a children’s book club or helping your child do it, forming a book club is a great way to motivate children to read and talk about books. If your child is looking for another way to get involved in reading, suggest forming a book club. Allow them to make the decision to form the club but offer to help them.

With a book club, you need a book to read and you need children to come. First, encourage your child to invite his or her friends. Talk to their parents about the opportunity. When you have several children interested, you should have your child call a meeting and pick a book.

Pick a book that will be easy for everyone in the group to read and understand. Book clubs do more than just read they also discuss the material. Talk to your location librarians for book recommendations. Check out canada 411 to find libraries and bookstores in your neighborhood. The librarians will be able to suggest several books for the book club members.

Help your child put together a calendar or schedule for the book club. You will first need to know what book you will be reading, how many pages you will be reading and how often you will be meeting.

The book club can do more than just sit around and discuss what they read. They can also get involved in the reading. Depending on the book being read, there are many activities available online to use. Play-acting is also a fun way to understand the reading and enjoy the book.

Young adults or teens are often inquisitive about things which they are not aware of. They have this extreme inclination to learn about things which they are not supposed to know. Attraction towards the opposite sex develops as they mature with age. Boys and girls become men and women as they reach puberty. This age makes them seek for things which did not mean much to them over all those past years.

Several school in developed and developing nations that institutionalized education systems, stress on the importance of sex educations. This education is imparted to children who have reached certain ages and have the mental caliber to realize its contents. There are several children who study in co-education schools and institutions. In such places, sex education is however imparted differently. The boys and girls are imparted sex education separately. They are taken to separate rooms and taught by separate instructors.

Sex education plays an important role in the society today. Children grow up early and learn things very early. Therefore it is important that they know about all things in the right ways. Young adults generally grow up and mingle with the opposite sex more freely. They meet separately and also date each other. Dating and relationships often lead to sexual relationships between them. Several teens and adults also end up having casual sex. These days even homosexual relationships have become open. These days gays, lesbians and other heterosexuals end up in live in relationships. It is important to create a society which is healthy and fit for a nation’s bright future.

Having safe sex is very important in life. The measure for safe sex and its methods are taught during sex education classes.

Education has been one of the basic needs of mankind. Man has been doing several things to increase their levels of education. New kinds of models and institutions are being brought up to bring in more knowledge to the society and world. There are several ways by which education is imparted. These ways have been modernized and researched upon for several years. New branches of studies and research are been developed to impart education for several people in the society.

Children are the future of any nation. A population which comprises of young forces is seen as the driving force for the nation’s success. This driving has to be engaged aptly. They need to learn and know about things which are relevant to this modern world. Kids must know that the future lies in their hands and they are responsible for driving the nation towards success. It is very important for them to receive good quality education. Now-a-days there are several kinds of education system that function. These modern education systems function in sync with the traditional ones.

Children need to get age appropriate education to do well in their future. Any kind of education which succeeds their levels of knowledge is harmful for them. Similarly education which is under their capacities also proves to insufficient. This ratio is important as children may use the acquired education inappropriately if they don’t age appropriate knowledge. Therefore it is the duty of their parents and teachers to see that age appropriate education is being imparted.

Educational institutions all over the world follow several kinds of curriculums. These curriculums are designed in accordance with the child’s age and mental aptitude. Therefore it is made sure that education in formal institutions is age appropriate. Next is education at home which falls under the parents’ jurisdiction. Parents must see if their child is being provided with proper education.

Online libraries are new resource for not just students, but for the public. There has been a big push to eliminate printing, and paper usage, and the newest way to make sure that is occurring is by digitizing everything that is printed. For instance, this article, news papers, flyers, and books are all primarily on digital formats. The days of paper advertising are quickly fading away. This means that the face of libraries has changed as well, and there is both good and bad with this process. For those that are going to miss the smell of paper, the feel of the page between your fingers, and delight of having your own library on your shelves, you are not alone. Many people are already missing those aspects of reading and books. However, it has been said though, that a child born in the year 2011 will not understand the concept of a card catalogue, checking out books, or even a library card.

For students however, this is an amazing development, as it saves time and money, and those are two things that many students just do not have enough of. People can go to a library, sit in a digital feed room, and look up books via WIFI. Then download them. That is of course if that student wants to take the time to go to the library. Most online libraries are just that, online. A student can access all the books via the internet, download from home, and not just have a book, but also have the works cited that comes with the book in APA format, MLA, Turabian, and Chicago. This makes citing sources that much easier to do, and many students are wondering how students of days past even survived using bulky reference manuals, and type writers. The new technology is allowing students to quickly access information without the hassle of leaving their home.

Aside from this, education is now also more digitized. There are educational systems online like earnmydegree.com that provide distance learning through a computer to those interested. With the fast advancement of technology, we can only wait for what’s in store in the future.

Writing e-books is the new way for many to become published authors. In fact the time constraints on authors have been virtually, no pun intended, eliminated. There is not longer the need to have strict guidelines to allow for publishing deadlines. Today, with e-books, and e-readers, many people can simply write a book, edit, and publish themselves online for a fraction of the cost that it would take to have a major publishing house take care of the book. The nice part about this new technology is that authors can now write their books, and not worry about whether or not a publisher will even accept their work. This has been the case for decades. A writer provides a publisher with their manuscript, only to be turned down and told that the work was not what the public wants.

Today, a writer can put together a set of short stories, e-publish, then begin to sell copies on Amazon.com for two dollars a copy. The author would have the publishing costs paid for with the purchase of 10 editions. This is a far cry from the $2,000-$3,000 dollars that would have been required not more than five years ago. The printing costs are eliminated which means that writers are only paying for the copyrights to their work, and nothing more. Since writers are able to take care of their own works, there is also no demand for costly agents that are available to help promote the works. The technological age has created a win win situation for writers, and the public is going to be treated to a plethora of writing and enriched points of view as a result. It appears as though technology is also bridging the creative gap that once was stopped by corporate America.

Creative writing is a process that many students need to learn so that they can begin to use vital critical thinking skills. The actual skill of writing is taught simultaneously with reading, and is a key element in the fundamentals of learned material in the beginning years of schooling. By expanding on that knowledge and then incorporating learned material, students can begin to write down their thoughts, and begin to piece together coherent thoughts that exhibit critical thinking. Creative writing is a great way to have students exercise critical thinking. Tasks like finishing the following sentence, “I went to the beach, and I…” allows students to imagine what they would be doing at the beach. This type of creative skill is a fantastic way to teach students to incorporate things that the know of the beach, as well as independent thoughts that they may have regarding their feelings toward the beach, or something they remember or a detail that was interesting.

Teachers are now able to post children’s writing that they complete and e-publish their work. There is nothing better than receiving a published piece of work from your child. With technology advancing the way it has in the last few years, e-books, e-readers, and e-publishing are a feasible and possible aspect for a students classroom. This means that creative writing, and the use of much needed critical thinking skills are rewarded by having a public display forum. This could potentially be a massive encourager for students to continue writing and exercising that skill of being creative, and parents and the public can enjoy reading the works of art published by children. There is always a little author waiting to be discovered, and if encouraged properly, it could be your little student.

It is vital for students to learn how to read as soon as possible. It is this function that is the most important out of all of the educational goals. In order for children to begin reading they need to have a good foundation for symbol recognition. This means that children need to understand what the letter “a” looks like, and sounds like. These skills are usually taught at the preschool level, or at home. Children that have not been taught these skills prior to entering Kindergarten have a 60 percent chance of failure in that grade. Reading is the key fundamental to all education, as all education is based on presenting material in written format for comprehension. Students must be able to take instructions and they must be able to apply those instructions for their assignments. If a student is unable to read, he or she will be destined for failure in school.

The basic approaches for teaching reading to young students is by starting with the basics. This includes teaching letters and sounds. After the letters and sounds have been mastered, teachers are able to put letters together and begin to form sounds. This is when students can have word recognition with words like “mom” or “dad” or “cat.” These are basic words that students learn to read that follow consistent rules and guidelines. This is also a good way to approach short sounds and long sounds. The next step is to begin to integrate blends, followed by sight words and silent vowel rules. It will take a child up until the third grade to master the key blends that they are taught, and by then they should be working on expanding their vocabulary and not just basic reading skills. Teachers have been provided a prescribed method on how to teach reading, and each student should be able to follow the basic routine without any stress.

Using e-books is a simple and non-invasive way to get students used to the technological component of education. This is more than just a way for students to read their textbooks, it is also a way for learners to begin incorporating reading and electronics together. This is a big step for many students, and as school districts make large efforts in cutting spending, e-books tablets will be seen more and more in the classroom. It is suggested that tablet readers, Kindle and Nook, will save schools nearly 30 percent in costs of textbooks. This equates to three teachers salaries for the entire school per school in a district. Aside from the cost effectiveness, it is becoming more and more important for students to become accustomed to reading online text, using technology, and to be familiar with how to research using these types of e-book readers.

E-books are truly the way of the author these days. Not only does it cut down on publishing costs, but releasing an e-book saves on paper, ink, and allows writers to quickly profit from their work rather than wait a year to see their editions in print. This also help publishing houses as they do not need to wait for order to be fulfilled. They simply edit and release. This means that for readers, that second book is only a few months away, not the traditional year and a half. For schools this is the same type of response time. When new editions or updates are published, e-book readers are able to download updates the second they are released. This allows students, schools, and readers to keep in touch with the most up to date information. By allowing educational information to remain current, schools and teachers are able to ensure that students are provided the best education and the best information possible, and the end result is a group of well-educated students.

Making the decision about when a child is ready for a computer is one of the most difficult issues parents face in today’s society. A computer is a huge responsibility. This is more true today than in the past because of the easy access computers provide to information and socialization that your child may or may not be ready for.

You know that your child needs a computer in order to have a competitive edge in school and a solid foundation of computer skills with which to enter the workplace in the future. Then there is the educational and literacy component for computers in that there is easy access to eBooks and the like to promote a lifelong love of reading. Computers can’t be beat for the educational opportunities they represent for children.

But, how do you know when your child is ready? The truth of the matter is that you have to set your own rules when buying a computer for your child that will make the computer usage and time available appropriate for your child at whatever age he or she may be.

Set ground rules and time limits for your child to be online.

Only allow supervised access to the Internet for younger children and use monitoring programs combined with supervision (though not necessarily as close) for older children and teens online.

Establish a joint email account with your younger children in order to monitor their email activity.

Keep the computer in a central location so that you can monitor the amount of time spent online as well as the activity of your children online.

Protect your computer from reckless activity by children online with PC Tools antivirus software.

You love your child and understand that he or she needs a computer to excel. You also understand that there are dangers online that you need to protect your child from too. Doing these things will get you off to a great start.

E-books, or Electronic books, are the newest technological advancement that is taking over one of America’s past times, reading. In fact, the trend has become so popular that a Florida public high school has insisted that students use an electronic reading tablet as opposed to text books. This has become a major cost saver for many educational institutions, and in fact so popular that even the environmentalist groups are in full support. With the new gadgets that are supported by Nook, or Kindle, students are able to enjoy their reading materials, academic materials, and even have internet access for scholarly writings, all from the convenience of a small tablet. The public school that is supporting this innovation has recently stated that the Kindle used in the classroom has saved the school district thousands of dollars. The Kindle, which costs around $140.00 is less than what it would cost for one chemistry text book for a student. The text book publishers sell bulk licensing for schools for e-book downloads, and they are pennies on the dollar.

The nice aspect to the Kindle and e-books is that they allow readers to have a quick on-site index. This is especially convenient if a student or reader is looking for a particular topic in a book. The days of endless page flipping to get to a section, only to find that you were mistaken are over. Now a student can click on a book icon, type in a word, and the find option will seek out the sections that offer that word or words. This has the potential of saving students hours during studying time, and readers are able to find out specific details in a hurry because they no longer need to worry about the scavenger hunt of finding particular items. This has revolutionized the way people buy books, read books, and even review books. The only thing missing now is the smell of the book, and the feeling of turning pages.

A good reader is one that can concentrate and understand their reading. You can become a faster reader through practice and it will help you become a more efficient reader, but how do you become a better reader?

When you read, find a quite spot. You may enjoy reading because it takes your mind off other things. Go somewhere where you won’t be distracted by other things. Try to relax so that your stress doesn’t distract you either. It will be much easier to concentrate if you aren’t being distracted.

Read about subjects you enjoy. It is difficult to concentrate when you’re reading about boring subjects. Everyone has different preferences. Try to find a book or magazine article that interests you. The more it interests you, the easier it will be to concentrate.

Sometimes you are required to read about subjects you don’t enjoy such as for school or work. It is easier to concentrate on these subjects while you’re doing something you enjoy. Try picking something that it is easy to read while doing. You may enjoy Doritos chips, so you may try eating them while you read. You may enjoy crocheting, which can be an easy task while reading. Find something you can do to help you concentrate while reading about a boring subject.

Read often. The more you read, the better you’ll become. Reading often is just practice. The more you practice something, the better you’ll get at it. Reading is like exercising your brain; the more you read, the stronger your brain becomes, and the better reader you’ll be.

There is so much you can do to become a better reader. It really isn’t difficult if you want to become a better reader. Find a book or article that interests you and read it. The more it interests you, the better, because you can more easily concentrate. Try reading things you don’t think will interest you; you might be surprised.

What can you do to improve your reading? Not everyone reads fast, but that doesn’t mean that you’re a bad reader. A good reader can simply be someone that understands what they’re reading. Reading fast is just a plus, but if you can read fast and understand what you’re reading, it will make you that much of a better reader.

You can improve your reading by improving your vocabulary. The more vocabulary you know, the more content on a page you will understand. You can improve your vocabulary in many ways. When you hear a word for the first time, make a note of it and look it up when you have the chance. If you don’t know how to pronounce a word, dictionaries will help you. When you look up a word in the dictionary, it should have the pronunciation after the word.

Read with other people. If you are not so good at sounding out words, you can try reading with someone that is a good reader, such as a family member, so they can help you. You can simply read magazine articles together, and it will help both of you become better readers.

Read things that interests you. If you don’t like what you’re reading you won’t be interested in reading at all. Choose books that teach you about something you enjoy or have a story line you like. Read magazines about subjects that interests you. If all you can find is a Seventeen magazine lying around, try looking for another magazine, or go online to look up something you enjoy. The world is full of a variety of writings; there should be plenty that interest you.

Read often! The more you read, the better you’ll be at it. It’s like playing a sport; the more you practice, the better you get. Reading often is simply just practice, and it can be anything, books, magazines, signs, you name it.

You want to become a great writer some day, and you want so much for your words to be read and loved and maybe even make a difference in someone’s life. You want to be a best-selling author that others look to for inspiration. How can you achieve this? What do you need to do in your writing to make it come alive? All of the great authors use descriptive words and phrases to capture their audience’s attention. Details allow the reader to become a part of what is going on and allows the reader to see and feel what the author is trying to convey.

As you write think about where your characters are, who they are, and what they are feeling. Now, find the words to put the image you see into your reader’s mind. Using basic and simple language and descriptions will not help the reader to visualize the same images you are seeing in your mind’s eye while you are writing. You must thoroughly describe the people, places, and events in your writing. You have the ability to create emotions and events simply by the words you use.

When you set out to become a writer it would be best to take a real intense look at the writings of some of your favorite authors. Note their writing style, the types of descriptive words and phrases they choose to use that have helped you to feel a part of their story. Then, possibly even compare the writings of someone who you did not feel was able to capture your imagination quite as well. What are the differences? Do you see a difference in the style of descriptive words and phrases offered by each writer? You will most likely find that the author whose books have inspired you and captured your attention and sparked your imagination have been the authors who have been the most descriptive in their books.

Writing is not just about the words you put down on a piece of paper or type onto a computer screen. Writing is also about using the proper grammar, using appropriate sentence structure, and using the correct punctuation throughout your writing. Why do these things matter? Without the proper writing techniques it becomes difficult for the reader to fully understand or to fully appreciate the context of your work.

When something is written well the words flow and come alive to the reader. When a sentence is written with the proper punctuation it allows the reader to get a feel for the emotions or the meaning behind the words. For example, read the following statements first without punctuation then with the proper punctuation. See if you feel a difference in the meaning and feel of the words.

It was a warm sunny beautiful day the birds were singing and there was the smell of spring in the air Jane could feel the excitement in the air as she dressed for her day today was the first day of her new life today Jane was getting married to the love of her life

It was a warm, sunny, beautiful day! The birds were singing and there was the smell of spring in the air. Jane could feel the excitement in the air as she dressed for her day. Today was the first day of her new life. Today Jane was getting married to the love of her life!

As you can see, although you still get the same basic message in the two examples above, obviously the second examples had a better flow, was much easier to read, and had a better flow of feelings and ideas created by the punctuation used. Simply by learning the rules of punctuation and using them properly you can add so much to your writing.

Word choice is a skill that many young writers lack. As easy as it may sound to a teacher, students may not understand how to make good word choice. There are may ways in which you can teach a student good word choice, but one idea includes reading a piece with a variety of examples of good word choice, having students mark good word choice, and reviewing the results with the entire class.

Find a piece of writing with many examples of word choice contained in the writing. Try to decide on a piece that your students would enjoy such as a funny poem or story. There are thousands of great examples of great word choice, so it shouldn’t be hard to find one.

Before you begin the lesson, review what good word choice means. Hand out sheets with the piece you have decided on to each student and read the piece together as a class. While you are reading, have each student circle or underline each example of good word choice they find within the piece.

As a class, discuss words or phrases that they have found and compare whether their answers are similar. If they have similar answers, you are probably doing a great job of teaching them.

You can try mixing this assignment up a little by having them circle examples of bad word choice within a piece as well. This will help them get familiar with good and bad word choice. Perhaps you will then have them come up with a word or phrase to replace the one they have circled.

After your students have completed this activity, have them write their own example of good word choice, which can simply be a paragraph in length. This way you can make sure that they don’t only understand how to recognize great word choice, but that they can actually write a piece containing good word choice.

None of us claim to be perfect writers. We write because we love it, yet there is always room for improvement. As hard as we try, we never reach perfection. Even though perfection is practically impossible, there are ways in which we can improve our writings — even if the finished product doesn’t end up on New York Times Best Seller List — such as organization, word choice, and voice.
Organization can sometimes be a difficult process. In some pieces of writing we nail organization, while on others we fail to properly organize. Organization includes introduction, body, and conclusion. The body is the most difficult part of organization because we have to be able to organize within the body of the piece. We need to remember to stay on the idea of the piece of writing instead of straying off and to introduce topics when necessary.
Word choice is a writing feature that most young writers lack today. As much as some writers may lack great word choice, we must avoid going overboard; the piece has to make sense after we edit out weak words. Using a thesaurus will improve word choice dramatically, but avoid using a thesaurus every other word.
Young writers also lack voice in their writing. Voice refers to the personality of the writer being reflected in their piece of writing. This is much easier when we write about something we enjoy, but sometimes we receive an assignment — either in school or at work— in which we have to write about a subject we don’t enjoy and we have to be able to incorporate ourselves into each piece.
There is no limit in ways to which we can improve our writing skills. We can improve our organization, word choice, and voice, but there are thousands of other techniques and skills that we can focus on to improve. We may never become perfect writers, but we can always improve.

Anyone who was a fan of the original Wizard of Oz book written by Frank L. Baum may find that they love the other many Oz books also written by Frank L. Baum, who wrote 14 Oz books before his death. After his death several other authors continued writing about the adventures in the land of Oz.

The Oz books tell of the wonders and characters in the amazing land of Oz. Now a new generation of readers can enjoy the Oz series. These books have been in print since the early 1900s, but are now available in the form of e-books.

We are all familiar with the first book in the Oz series, The Wizard of Oz, in which a young girl from Kansas who is named Dorothy travels by tornado to a magical land called Oz. When she arrives in Oz she finds she has killed the Wicked Witch of the West and freed the Munchkins from her terrible reign over them. Dorothy meets some friends along her journey to find a way home and runs into conflicts along the way as well.

The Oz series of books continue to take us into more and more of the wonderful world of Oz and let us travel along to find new adventures along the way. We find through the series that Dorothy returns to Oz many times to continue her adventures there. She eventually brings Auntie Em and Uncle Henry to live out the remainder of their lives in Oz where they are no longer forced to work so hard.

The complete Frank L. Baum Oz series can be found on e-book through Amazon. com for the Kindle. Individual Oz books can be found online through most other e-book libraries and/or bookstores as well. For the fantasy lover, these are great books!

If you are considering reading a great e-book you may want to consider Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which is sometimes also referred to as Harry Potter 7 or even HP7. This e-book can be found in just about any online e-book bookstore, e-library, or other website offering e-book downloads. In fact, there are several websites offering the download of HP7 for free.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is the seventh and final book in the Harry Potter series written by J.K. Rowling. The Harry Potter books gained immediate popularity with the first book and Harry Potter fans have been anxiously waiting for this final book to complete the series and answer so many of the questions that have been plaguing fans for a long time! Although HP7 does answer many of the questions that fans have had, it also leaves many questions.

Harry, Ron, and Hermoine set out to do the task that Dumbeldore entrusted them with. They must find and destroy the Horcruxes created by Lord Voldemort. This proves to be a much more difficult task than they originally thought it would be. They not only have to figure out what each Horcrux is, but they must also figure out where they are and ultimately how to destroy them. In the meantime they are being chased down by the Death Eaters who are working for Lord Voldemort. It seems as though each time they get close to their goals something seems to get in the way.

During the struggles of their mission tensions rise between the friends as they are faced with dangers beyond their imaginations, loved ones are injured and killed, and the world seems to be falling apart around them. Ultimately, Harry and Voldemort must come together for one final duel that will determine the fate of the world!

Many popular bookstores now offer the option of buying and downloading e-books from them online. Some of these online bookstores also offer their own versions of e-book readers such as Barns & Noble who offers the Nook e-book reader. Barnes & Noble also offers the option of you being able to download books from your “Nook library” to your PC or iPod as well. Many of the e-books that can be purchased from their website can be purchased for under $10. Although, Barnes & Noble e-books can only be downloaded to the Nook e-book reader and will not work on other e-book reader devices.

Amazon.com also offers their own version of an e-book reader called the Kindle. Amazon also has a large collection of e-books available for purchase on their website ranging in price from $5 to $10 for the majority with some e-books up in the range closer to $15. These e-books can only be downloaded to the Kindle e-book reader.

Although the above-mentioned online bookstores only allow the e-books purchased through their websites to be downloaded to their specific e-book reader, there are many others online bookstores that offer e-books for purchase that can be loaded many different programs or applications. For example, eBooks.com offers e-books that can be downloaded to PCs, Macs, iPhones, iPads, Sony Readers, and mobile phones. The books that they offer include books from popular publishers, academic publishers, and professional publishers. The prices for these e-books vary greatly depending on the type of book you are looking for. Many popular titles can be found for as little as $5 while academic books can run over $100.

The bookstore you choose will most likely be dependent on the type of books you are looking for, the e-book reader device you currently have, and the price you are willing to pay. The above are just a small sampling of the online bookstores that are now selling e-books.

Reading specialists are very valuable members of the teaching team. They work with students who have trouble either writing or reading, and they help those students find a way to learn more easily so that they can catch up with their peers. While the job of a reading specialist can be difficult at times, it’s also one that’s very rewarding and can provide a lot of joy when you see your students doing better and really ‘getting it’ when it comes to reading. Many students can learn to read well and catch up to where they should be, but they need someone to help them and work with them. That’s where a reading specialist comes in, and it shows how much of a difference you can make in the life of a student.

If you want to become a reading specialist, the good news is that there are options. One of them is to get a degree online. That’s perfect for teachers because they can continue teaching their students during the day and then they can go to school online in their spare time. It doesn’t take anything away from their students, since they don’t miss time in the classroom, but it can help their students out a lot in the future, as they’ll be better able to help them learn to read.

By jumping over the hurdles of reading, children can learn more in the long run with the help of a reading specialist that’s focused on them and what they need in order to succeed. For a teacher wanting to become a reading specialist, checking out sites that offer online degrees is important. That way, he or she can get the information needed to make an informed choice when looking for a college. That’s the best way to decide which one is right for you.

People who have a device capable of downloading an e-book file are aware of the benefits of e-books, although may not be sure what books are available or not quite sure where to find the books they want. There are several sites available where e-books can be downloaded for free. In fact, there is now a program that allows you to load e-book software on your PC or Mac which then in turn allows you to download newspapers or borrow e-books from your library with a library card. Through a little bit of research you will find many online libraries offering downloads of e-books, some require small fees whiles others are free.

One e-book library website available online would be worldlibrary.net. For a small yearly fee you are able to use this website to find and download children, youth, and adult books from many different genres. This website allows you to search for books by title, author, or style.

The EBook Library found at eblib.com is an electronic library that caters mostly to academic and research facilities. The EBL website includes a “pay-per-view” feature on its website and allows you to download e-books that can be read off line at a later time but also offers an options where you can view and read your e-books online. One of the features that EBL claims to be their “stand out feature” would be that you are able to purchase a book from them and then lend it out as many times as you want or need to to as many patrons as you want.

Another online e-book library would be e-library.net. This website claims that their directory includes the majority of the electronic books sold online. There are customer reviews available for the books that they offer as well. This website offers over 14,000 e-books to choose from.

E-books are becoming the newest form of reading. There are specific devices for downloading e-books to such as the Nook or the Kindle as well as applications that can be added to your electronic device such as a cellular phone, iPod, iPad, Macintosh computer or PC. You are now able to find just about any book you could want to read and either download it to your e-book reader or other e-book application. The advantage of an e-book reader is that you are able to download multiple books and carry them with you wherever you go in one small, portable device!

Once you have the e-book application downloaded or have purchased an e-book reader you will now need to find the books you would like to read. Books from any genre can be found to download. Many older books or books that may not be quite as popular can usually be found online to download free. Otherwise, most of the more popular books or newer release books can be found on e-book, bookstore, and other websites to download for a fee.

By reading books this way you are able to keep an electronic copy that you can read over and over again without having to find the storage space required for hard copies of the same books. Let’s say you are leaving for a long vacation or business trip and you either want to have books along to read for entertainment or even may need to read something specific for your business trip but just simply do not have the space necessary to take the books with you that you would like to bring. With an e-book reader or application you are now able to bring as many “books” with you as you want without using up as much space as one hard copy book would take.

When writing, we all include common mistakes in our pieces. Some of these mistakes we dismiss, some we try to fix, and some we don’t even notice. We can improve our writing in hundreds of ways.

Let each paragraph begin with your main idea. This will help with organization and make more sense to your reader. Once you have established the main idea you can elaborate more fully on the subject.

Vary the length of your sentences. A piece of writing that does not have variety is not an enjoyable piece. If each sentence is too short, it will not be interesting, but if they are all too long, the piece will seem to drag on similar to how each sentence does. Try to vary the length of your sentences, paragraphs, and ideas.

Use complex words. If you are able to find synonyms to weak words, your piece will prove to be more interesting. Try to choose words that convey your idea and that take the piece to the next level.

Edit your writing before you present it. Sometimes words sound good in your head, but when you actually read them over, they may not make sense. 99.9% of the time there is something to edit either out or into your piece. Sometimes reading the piece over will spark another idea — maybe a better one. It may be time consuming, but it will help make your piece become a better piece.

You don’t always have to write exactly the same. Try to experiment on different types of writing until you are able to decide which one suits you. Do your best to incorporate yourself into your writing. There should always be a piece of the author in the writing, whether it’s a situation the author relates to, his or her opinion, the authors dialect, or simply their own unique writing style.

Helping your child learn to read can become a challenge. There is a lot of time and work that goes into helping your child learn to read. There are many things you can do to help your child become a better reader.
Start reading to your child when they’re young. Get them interested in reading by reading to them. Make the time you spend together reading enjoyable and try to read books that they will enjoy. Let your child pick the book they want you to read so that they will be interested in the story. When they begin to get older, try picking more advanced books to read to them.
Teach your children that there is a difference between pictures and words. Try pointing to the words when you read and try having them read to you. This will teach them that we read left to right. Teach them that words are made of letters and that each word is separated by a space.
If they are young, try reading most of the page, then pausing and asking them what the next word is. If they can’t get it, try sounding it out to them. This will help them recognize what sounds match with each letter.
After they get a bit older, have them start reading to you. Help them out a little bit when they struggle, but avoid reading for them. When your child is in school and learning in a classroom, don’t stop reading with them. Keep them interested in reading by continuing to read with them.
There are many other things you can do to help your child read. Don’t stop reading with your child. Make sure your child stays interested in reading. Try reading to them at bedtime instead of during a time where other things might distract them. If you start them out young it will help them to become great readers later in life.

Many young people in the world today don’t have the best vocabulary. If you really want to improve your vocabulary and sound smart around your friends, there are many things you can do every day to expand your vocabulary. It’s not like you have to read the dictionary everyday, but a little here and there will improve your vocabulary dramatically.

If you want to improve your vocabulary you should read more. Read books, magazines, and newspapers. The more you read, the more you will learn new words. If you already read often, there’s a lot more you can do to expand your vocabulary.

Try to find a new word everyday, either one you’ve heard of but don’t know the meaning, or one you’ve never heard before. Read the word and learn the meaning, then try to use it in a sentence once that day.

Keep a list of words you don’t know. If someone uses a word you’ve never heard or are uncertain of the meaning, make sure you look up the word so you know it the next time someone says it. Maybe that word can be your word of the day the next day.

Play word games. These games will help to expand your vocabulary, and if you’re already working on it, you can trick people when they don’t know a certain word and you do.

Study Latin prefixes and suffixes. If you know these, you will be able to make inferences about certain words. For example, you will know the difference between micro and macro and that micro means small and macro means large. This way, you will learn to use the prefixes and suffixes along with base words to know the meaning of the entire word.

There are many things you can do to improve your vocabulary. You don’t have to read the entire dictionary to learn a million words. You can easily expand your vocabulary a little at a time.

If you happen to be one of the unfortunate ones who was not taught a wide vocabulary in your youth and have a desire to learn and grow in your language skills to simply gain a better understanding of the English language or to improve your writing skills, reading comprehension, or speaking skills it can be accomplished easily. There are several steps you can take to improve your vocabulary and your overall language skills. Of course the first and foremost step would be to have a desire to learn. It is much more difficult to learn something new if you do not truly have a desire to learn it.

Make a commitment that you will work at gaining a better understanding of the English language and that you will work at increasing your vocabulary on a daily basis. There are many books, websites, and other resources available to aid you in your goal to achieve a more in-depth vocabulary. Once you have chosen the method that will work best for you, it is time to start learning.

One method of improving your comprehension while increasing your vocabulary is to keep a dictionary handy while reading a book. When you come across a word that you have either never heard before or don’t quite understand, look it up. Yes, this takes longer and might even get frustrating at times, but it will invariably help you to improve your vocabulary and your overall reading comprehension as well. Rather than just looking words up take the extra step and write them down including the definition. Once you have done this, study these words until you truly understand them and can retain them. Now that you have some new words in your vocabulary start using them in your daily life. At first it may be a struggle but it may surprise you how quickly and naturally these new words become part of your normal vocabulary.

It seems that in today’s society a strong articulate vocabulary is getting lost. Our children are not being taught verbal skills on the same level as in the past in school anymore. Many high school students are unaware of what a lot of “big” words mean and claim to have never heard of many every-day English words. Vocabulary and language skills seem to be “dumbed down” to a basic level for everyone, and not enough people are making the effort to become better educated and improve their language skills on their own anymore.

Why does it matter if you do not have a good grasp of the full English language or are not as articulate as someone else? So long as you understand and speak the basic English skills required to function in society, that is all that is needed, right? Absolutely not! Through the years the English language has changed and we are losing important language skills and words that were once widely used.

Why exactly is it important to have strong language skills or to know or understand a larger vocabulary? Why do we need to become better educated in the English language or gain better vocabulary skills? First and foremost is the fact that our language is changing so drastically and the comprehension skills of our youth is declining to the point that at some point great literary works will become lost due to the inability to comprehend anything in them. It is a proven fact that those with a good grasp of the English language, who have an understanding of more than just basic language skills, and who have built up their vocabulary are seen as more intelligent. This is a great advantage when seeking any type of professional career as the higher you climb in your career the more articulate and intelligent you are expected to be.

When working on a paper it can be difficult to decide exactly what to say. Most times we end up repeating ourselves and being quite vague. What can we do to improve our word choice and make our paper more interesting?

Most people today have reference to the internet, and if you’re writing a paper you are most likely typing it up on the computer. You can easily improve your word choice by using an online thesaurus.

Using an online thesaurus is easy. All you have to do is type in a word that you want a synonym for and a list of words is set at your fingertips in seconds. This is very helpful when you can’t think of another word and continue to repeat yourself in every paragraph. When using synonyms, it creates a better flow of an idea and makes the paper more interesting to the reader.

Most online thesauruses are easily found and contain more than a thesaurus on its website. Many online thesauruses contain a dictionary on the same site, so if you’re wary about if a certain word will fit in your sentence, you can easily access a dictionary to confirm your uncertainty.

Online thesauruses are very easy to use and self explanatory. Instead of flipping through hundreds of pages in a book, you can quickly and easily access a list of words in one simple click. If you’re typing your paper on the computer there is no need to go looking for a thesaurus because you have one right on your computer.

Using a thesaurus is a very good way to improve your word choice and flow of idea. Just by switching a couple words around, you can dramatically improve your paper. If you are able to find synonyms to dull words, your paper will sound quite a bit better to your reader and they will enjoy it more.

One in every 20 Americans is illiterate, while the other 19 may be able to read and write, we are all at different levels. No one can ever achieve perfection in every piece of writing they do. Your writings can always be improved – whether it is your first day of junior high or you’re a published author. One aspect of writing that beginner writers fail to do is choose a variety of words. There are several ways to edit your word choice to make your piece more interesting.
Avoid using weak words. The word “things” is one of the weakest words we see in a piece of writing. If you can refrain from using weak words and replace them with stronger words, you will be able to spice up your writing a little bit. Try using synonyms to weak words you find while editing.
Don’t repeatedly use identical words and phrases. Avoid the use of words such as “then” and “next” to begin sentences. Many words have complex synonyms that you can replace to make your piece more entertaining. Attempt to divert from using “said” each time a character speaks in your novel or essay. Make sure you know the meaning of the word before you attempt to replace a dull word.
Don’t let your voice fade away in your writing. If you are too deeply focused on writing a good essay, poem, etc. you may forget to use your voice. If you want your piece to stick out to people, you have to keep a little bit of you inside that piece. If your personality and opinions aren’t expressed in your writing, it won’t be as interesting to people to read.
Remember to edit. If you don’t like what you’re reading, chances are other people won’t enjoy it either. Make sure you are using strong words and are not constantly repeating words and phrases.

Finding your books online is becoming more and more popular. Whether you are looking for something that you can read online or print off, or if you want a great reading option for your ebook reader or other mobile device, you may want to consider looking into the Gutenberg Project.

This website allows readers to find many books for free. You can download these works to your computer or mobile device, or sometimes even just read them online. Project Gutenberg was actually the first collection of ebooks, and is still today considered one of the most famous and largest collections.

It does not matter the language that you read. Project Gutenberg has books in a variety of different languages. You will be surprised at the options you will find. You can also find books of all different genres.

Project Gutenberg is a place that you can go to get free ebooks. They do have the option to donate, if you would like. You can even donate your time, if this is something that you are more comfortable with than donating money. Though donations are in no way necessary, they do help the site continue to function correctly.

At Project Gutenberg, you can find books of all sorts. If you know what you are looking for, you can do a search for that specific book. Otherwise, you can do a search for keywords, or just browse through what is available. Another option is to look at some of their lists. For example, there is a top 100 ebooks from Yesterday. This will show you the most popular books downloaded yesterday, and how many times they were downloaded. More books are being added all the time, so if you are unable to find exactly what you want, don’t worry. Check back later – you may just find the perfect reading option.

A large number of people today are starting to become more interested in ebooks as a way to read. They are undoubtedly a lot less bulky than carrying around a paper book. You can generally have hundreds, if not thousands of books on your mobile device, so you will never be wondering where you left your book, or not have something on hand to read next. With the ebook craze has come a variety of ways to read these books. From your computer or laptop to your ebook reader, and even some smart phone, you can find the ability to read ebooks almost anywhere.

One thing that many people are looking for when they start looking into ebooks is the price. They don’t want to spend a ton of money on something that they don’t have the physical copy of. There are many options for getting free ebooks online. In fact, many books that are now public domain are now available for free in many places online. If you are looking for some free ebooks, there are options as to where exactly to go.

Amazon: Almost everyone knows that Amazon.com is a great place to get ebooks. You can get many of the classics, and sometimes other genres for free on Amazon. Browsing through their library can be time consuming, but worth it.

Barnes and Noble: Again, this is a great place to get the classics. You probably won’t find much more than that for free at Barnes and Noble, but it is worth the look.

FreeBookSpot: With this website, you can get a variety of great ebooks for free. They have 96 different categories, with nearly 5000 free books available.

These, of course, are just a few options. There are so many websites today offering free ebooks that it would be impossible to mention them all. With so many options, though, you are sure to find a great free ebook to read.

Almost everyone who is considering getting an ebook has heard of the major ebook retailers. The two biggest competitors out there for ebooks are Amazon and Barnes and Noble. Both of these companies offer a huge variety of books for your ebook reader, and they both even offer free options. When looking at these retailers, one thing that many people compare is not the regular priced books – these will be approximately the same price no matter where you go. Instead, they compare the variety and availability of the free books.

Amazon – At Amazon.com, you can get a huge variety of free ebooks. They have two sections of free ebooks. There is the Limited Time Promotional Offers, and the Kindle Popular Classics. There are well over 100 options for newer books in the limited time offers. They are only free for a short time, though, and are always changing out. So, if you can’t find something that you want there today, check back in a few day; you might find something great. In the section, Kindle Popular Classics, you will find exactly what the title says – classics. These are generally public domain titles, and some of the most famous works of our time. There are well over 16,000 options in this category, because there are different printings and varieties of many of these classic stories.

Barnes and Noble – Barnes and Noble does not categorize their free ebooks as well as Amazon does, but they still have a huge variety of free ebooks. They also have the classics that are now public domain, but they also have a large variety of other books as well. There is everything from romance novels to informational books on language phrases and fun trips. Though these are a little more difficult to sort through, you will find that it is well worth your time, if you are looking for something great to read without the price tag.

The Amazon Kindle is one of the most popular ebook readers there is today. There are a few different varieties of the Kindle, so it is easy to find exactly what you want in your ebook reader. As of December 2010, there are currently three different styles of the Amazon Kindle available.

Kindle Wi-Fi: This is the cheapest option for the Kindle. It currently is selling for $139 on Amazon’s website. It has a 6″ diagonal display, and uses the E Ink Pearl technology. It only weighs 8.5 ounces, and can hold up to 3,500 books with its built in memory. This ebook reader offers wi-fi, but not 3G wireless.

Kindle 3G + Wi-Fi: Considered the mid grade level of the Kindle readers, this ebook reader has very similar specs to the Kindle Wi-Fi. There are a few differences, though. It weighs 8.7 ounces. It also has the wi-fi capabilities, but also has free 3g wireless. It also has coverage in over 100 countries. This option currently runs you about $189.

Kindle DX: The largest of the Kindle readers, the display size on this reader is 9.7″ diagonally. This reader weighs in at 18.9 ounces, and also can carry 3,500 books. It has the other features of the Kindle 3G + Wi-Fi. The Kindle DX sells for $379.

Many people find the Kindle to be one of the best ebook readers there is, if not the absolute best. The E Ink Pearl technology makes it more like reading a book than reading a screen, which is much easier on the eyes. You can also get Kindle apps for your smart phone, computer, and other mobile devices. With the Kindle, you are able to get ebooks in different formats, as well. You can use the Kindle format, TXT, JPEG, PDF, and more. This means that you are not only limited to the books you can get on Amazon’s website.

The Barnes and Noble Nook is an extremely popular option for ebook readers. People like the fact that they have a reliable, household name behind their electronic devices. These ebook readers have been shown to work well for those who are looking to get a reliable ebook reader that works great for them. There are currently, as of December 2010, three varieties of the Nook available.

Nook Wi-Fi: This is available for $149 through Barnes and Noble’s website, or in store. It has a display size of 6″ diagonal. It uses the E Ink Vizplex technology for the books, which makes it less like reading a computer screen, and more like a book. It has Wi-Fi available, but unfortunately for some, does not have 3G capabilities. The internal memory of this ebook reader is 2GB, which can hold up to 1,500 books, but it can be expanded with a micro SD card up to 16GB. This reader weighs in at 11.6 oz.

Nook 3G + Wi-Fi: This reader has many of the same specifications as the Nook Wi-Fi. It has the same screen size and E Ink technology. It does offer free 3G connections, where the other does not. This option is a little heavier at 12.1 oz, and will cost about $199.

NookColor: The newest addition to the Nook family, the NookColor has a few more features than the older models. It costs $249 currently. It has a 7″ diagonal display, and uses the VividView Color display, instead of the E Ink. The NookColor offers Wi-Fi, but not 3G wireless. The internal memory of this reader is 8GB, which allows up to 6,000 books, and it can expand up to 32GB. There are audio and Read to Me options with this reader, as well. It weighs in at 15.8 oz.

With the variety of books available, and the name behind the reader, many people are most comfortable with the Nook as their ebook reader.

There are so many sources today to find the books that you want to read. No matter what kind of book you are looking for, you are most likely going to be able to easily find it in a variety of different places. Where are some places you might find your books?

Of course, there is the traditional bookstore. There are many different bookstores out there, and some are specific to different areas. At these bookstores, you are likely to find what you are looking for, and you will almost always pay full price for it. Many of these bookstores have rewards programs or similar options to get a certain percent off of their books, or even get different coupons throughout the year.

Many people today overlook used bookstores, though this should not be the case. In many cases, the books that you get at these stores are in decent to very good condition, and you can get them at a fraction of the price of a chain bookstore. Going into a used bookstore with the same amount of money as you would at a traditional bookstore will allow you to get many more books than you would.

A free option to get your books would be to head to the library. Many times, people will only read something once, so they feel that there is no real reason to actually purchase it. This is where libraries come in handy. You can find exactly what you want, and the only time you should have to pay anything is if your books become over due. There is also a huge variety of books at libraries, and you may even find some that you can’t find at bookstores.

Another option is to find your books online. You can frequently find the same books that you would in the library or a bookstore. If you don’t have a mobile device, you can frequently download them to your computer.

Many young children today are learning to read. In fact, it has been said by some that we are teaching our children to read at a younger age than ever before. With so many resources and options available, this is not extremely surprising.

In preschool, many children are getting the “learn to read” books. These books help not only foster a love of reading in the children, but also help them learn how to read. Many times, it is a fun daily activity for these children to read their books. These books start out with simple words and concepts for the child to understand. They also have a lot of pictures, that show what the books is saying. This is a great way for young children to start understanding how the words and the concepts go together. Of course, as most understand, the child needs to have a basic understanding of the alphabet and what letters make what sounds, to be able to start reading these books.

For many children today, electronics are the way to go. Luckily for a lot of parents, there are now ebooks and options online for their children to learn to read. If you have an ebook reader, or a plug in on your computer for ebooks, this is also an option. If you don’t want to worry about the possibility of a book getting destroyed or lost, then heading to the Internet for your child’s reading is a good idea.

In fact, you can frequently find the exact same books that your child’s school is using, in ebook format. This makes it so that you can work with them at home, even if they are not able to bring the books home. You are also able to branch out in what they read, without having to make multiple trips to the bookstore.

If you are looking to extend your vocabulary, there are a ton of free, fun ways to do this. Some come in the form of games, others are a little more basic. You can find online games, as well as board or flash card games that teach you new words, and the correct way to use them. The most popular method of expanding your vocabulary, though, is using a word a day program.

There are many options for a word a day program. There are many that you can sign up for online. These will email you daily the word for the day, what it means, and what context is best to use it in. Then you will be challenged to use that word through the day, at some point. This is a great way to learn new words. Even places like dictionary.com and merriam-webster.com have word of the day programs. These allow you to find words that you never would have before.

If you have a smart phone or other mobile device, you may be able to find some great word of the day programs apps, as well. This is something that is more convenient for some people, simply because you will have the word and the definition with you, to look at through the day. The whole point of a word of the day program is that you learn and understand the new vocabulary, and are able to use it.

Another option that many people have turned to is to just find a paper dictionary, open it up, and blindly point to a word. This will allow you to have a little more control over the words that you use. The problem with this method is that many people will dismiss words that they don’t like, don’t understand, or just don’t feel like using.

There are a huge variety of ebooks out there. In fact, you can now generally find almost any book that you would read in hard cover or paperback has an ebook version as well.

When you think about classic literature, there are many things that come to mind. First, there are the stories that you read, or were read to you, when you were a child. There are also the books that you had to read in English class in high school. One of the most famous and popular of the classics is The Wizard of Oz series by L. Frank Baum.

Many people know the basic story of Dorothy being picked up by a tornado and put down in Oz. After that, she has adventure after adventure. Unfortunately, a large number of people know the story from the movie that was made in 1939 and starred Judy Garland. Most, in fact, do not realize that there is a whole series dedicated to the wonderful and fantastical world of Oz.

You can actually get all of the Oz series through ebook, and in fact, you can get most, if not all of them for free. Having these books available to read at the touch of a button is opening the world of Oz to many more people than ever before. It is not just children or parents that are reading these books. Though they are aimed toward a younger audience, most adults find that they get a great deal of entertainment through these books, as well.

Finding these ebooks is extremely easy. In fact, you can find them on almost any website that you would find other ebooks, as well. You can get the books individually, or you can also find collections that have more than one of the books together. This is a great opportunity to delve into a mystical world that has entranced audiences for over a hundred years.

There is a big push today to go electronic. In a large number of areas of our lives, life becomes much easier when we digitize and go electronic. This is seeping into our reading, as well. More and more companies are offering electronic book, or ebook, readers. These allow you to read a huge variety of books that you purchase and download, on the go.

There are many reasons that ebook readers have become extremely popular, and that their popularity continues to grow. First, many people today like to stay connected. They want to keep everything electronic – it is just easier. On top of that, we have become a very mobile society. We are almost always on the move. Because of this, it can be difficult to find the time to go to the bookstore, find the book that you want, purchase it, and then actually take the time to relax and read it. This is where the convenience of an ebook reader can come in.

With most ebook readers, you can actually do a search and purchase your books right on the reader itself. This cuts out a lot of the hassle time that purchasing a book normally takes. If this is not available on your ebook reader, you can also purchase your books online, and have them downloaded to your mobile device. This saves reader a large amount of time and energy.

Ebook readers are also very portable devices. Many people that have them say that they are, in fact, much easier than a traditional paper book. They are small enough to carry around without any trouble, but large enough to be able to read the screen. You also don’t have to worry about lugging around your book, having it get lost, or even ripping. You can carry thousands of books on one device, and not worry about the problems of a more traditional book.

For many people, reading is something that other people do. They do not find it fun or enjoyable. Many times, this is because they did not find it fun when they were younger. Instilling a love of learning and reading in children is important, at a young age. If this does not happen, they will generally not get the “taste” for reading.

If you have a young child who is starting to learn to read, it is important to make it a fun, rewarding activity. If it is seen as something that they have to do, or something that is almost a punishment, they will never enjoy it. So, what are some things that you can do to help make reading a fun thing?

Set aside some time, and build it up. Make the child excited about reading time. Talk about how after lunch (or whatever time you put aside each day), is going to be reading time. Say it enthusiastically. This is very important for them to catch that it is a good thing, not a bad thing. Your tone is going to rub off on them.

Make it fun. Add in some reading or spelling games. Flash cards are always good, but it is better to have games, songs, and even something as simple as a story that they like. The more activity you add in to their reading time, when they are first learning to read, the more likely they are to stick with it. Children need stimulation. It is important to not make it boring.

It helps if you look forward to this time, as well. If you dread reading time, your child will pick up on this. They will start to wonder why you dislike it so much. They may even decide that it is not worth it, and that they don’t like reading, because you dislike reading time. Stay positive!

When learning to read, you have to start somewhere. Many children today are starting to learn to read in preschool. Many times, you will find that they are coming home with easy to read books, or they may even just start sounding out words all of a sudden. This is because they are learning to read. Reading can be a difficult and long process, when first starting out. When a child is learning to read, it is something that should be fostered and encouraged by the parents. One way to do this is to find some easy to read or learn to read books for your child to read at home.

Many people like to start their children off with books that they remember reading as a child. Dr. Seuss books are extremely popular when learning to read. They utilize small, easy to read words (though, of course, there are some nonsense words thrown in there too, that you may have to help your child with!). Some of the classics include: One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish; as well as Green Eggs and Ham. Nursery rhymes and Mother Goose stories are also very popular for starting a child out. The thought behind this is that if it is a story that they already know, they will have an easier time understanding the words and putting the writing together with the sounds.

There are other classic stories, as well, that many people choose to start reading with their children. The Very Hungry Caterpillar and If You Give a Mouse a Cookie are two that have become very popular for early readers.

No matter what you are looking for in a book for your young reader, you will be able to find it with the variety that is out there. Single word books to chapter books – you can’t go wrong when you find a book they enjoy!

There are constant additions to the books that are available for young adults. There are so many, in fact, that it can be hard for a person to decide exactly what to read next. With everything from classics to hot off the press, you can find young adult books in almost any category.

The Wizard of Oz

This is a great example of a classic book that is still popular today. Many young adults find these books to be a great way to spend their time. Being carted off to a distant world with fantastic happenings is a fun way to spend an afternoon.

The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe

Another example of a fantastic classic. This series has been popular for young adults for many years. With the popularity of the movies, as well, these books are becoming more and more widely known. This also makes it so that they are more widely read.

Harry Potter Series

Many times, families enjoy doing things together. One great past time of many families is to read a book together. Usually this is going to be a large chapter book, and one section or chapter at a time is read, on a regular basis. If this is something that you and your family do together, or it is something that you are considering starting, you may be wondering what to read next. Usually, the types of books that are read in this instance are considered classics. Below are some great ideas to get you started on your family reading time.

The Lord of the Rings Series

If your children are a little bit older, you may want to consider this series. If they already enjoy the movies, they will absolutely adore the books. These can be a little difficult to get through sometimes, because the writing style is very descriptive, but it can be a rewarding option for the whole family.

Charlotte’s Web

For younger children, Charlotte’s Web is a great option. It is a classic story and most likely they have seen one of the many versions that have been made into movies. This will help them better relate to the story.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Another great classic that everyone can enjoy is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Now that there have been two movies made, based on this book, you will find that more people feel that they understand the story. Reading it with your family can be a fun way to escape into a strange, new world.

Almost any chapter book can be turned into great family time. Most people tend to choose the classics, but new books and series are also great options. Finding something that is age appropriate for all of your children may seem frustrating, but it is worth it when you find that they are interested in the story, and look forward to family reading time.

There are many options out there to help teach your child how to learn the alphabet, and eventually, how to read. Many parents today are turning to the Internet as a great source to help with these things, because there are so many programs available. Starfall is a great option for young ones that are just learning to read.

Starfall is a website that helps children understand the letters of the alphabet, what sounds they make, and how they work together. There are so many great, fun activities for children on this website. It really helps foster a sense of enjoyment to go along with reading. There are games, puzzles, songs, stories, and other activities as well. This website is focused toward children in the preschool age range. Once a child starts to learn to read, it can open even more doors.

with the stories that they have, you can have your child read them to you, or if you would prefer, your child can read along with the narrator on the site. They can choose letters of the alphabet to learn more about, and play games about.

The games on the site help the child to not only recognize the letter, both in upper case and lower case forms, but also where it goes in the alphabet. On top of that, it goes into the sounds of each letter, and how they work in words.

When a child is first learning to read, it is important that they are given games and activities to help it be fun. Most young children have a short attention span, and if they are doing something that they don’t find enjoyment in, they are not very likely to continue doing it. With the activities that Starfall offers, your child will find hours of reading fun.

Many people today are looking for sources to get great books, without having to run out to the library or the bookstore. We live in a society and a time where we are always going – there is little time for things like searching the shelves for a new book. You may also find that you are looking for just a short article, but are unable to find exactly what you are looking for. One option that you may want to consider is thefreelibrary.com.

With well over 18 million books and articles available online, The Free Library is a great resource for anyone. You may not be able to find all of the books that you would at your public library or bookstore, but there is such a huge number of available options, that you may find something that you never would have elsewhere.

The website has been around since 2003, and since that time, their goal has been to offer free classic works, as well as other literary options. The site has grown from just offering the public domain classics to now also offering periodicals and more. You can find information on almost any subject that you can think of at The Free Library.

When on the website, you have a few options. You can do a keyword search to find exactly what you are looking for. On the other hand, you can also browse through different categories. Be careful, though. You may find yourself spending a lot of time on the site. Many of the categories have thousands of different options. For example, the Library and Information Science category of the site has over 134,000 options for you to go through. In this case, it might be beneficial to look for keywords, if you know what you are looking for.

For those that enjoy reading fantasy novels, you may have heard of the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan, and currently being finished by Brandon Sanderson. Even if you don’t frequently read fantasy, you may have heard of these books. They have become extremely popular over the years, and there are some very good reasons for this.

If you have read the Lord of the Rings trilogy, you know that sometimes great books come in large packages. At times, they can almost be a little difficult to get through. But, getting through the slow parts enables you to get to the great parts. It is similar with the Wheel of Time series. The writing style is very descriptive, and so at time, it may seem that the story is going slow. There is so much action and interaction packed into these books, though, that most people feel that it is worth the slower parts.

If you love fantasy, these books are a must read. Even if you aren’t a huge fan of fantasy stories, these are a great option. One of the best things about the books is the character development, and how the characters interact with one another. The books show the relationships between men and women very well. In fact, many people argue over what is going on in the books, and what each character is thinking, as well as their motivation, because of how well this is written. Many times, the women reading the series will understand where the women in the books are coming from, while not understanding the men’s motivation, and vice versa.

The one thing that puts some people off of the story is that the series is very long. There are currently 12 books out, with one left to be published. It is a long read, but well worth the time put into it.

When a child is first learning to read, it is very important that their parents be on board, as well. A child is much more likely to enjoy their reading experience if it is shown as a positive thing from their parents. In fact, this is so important that most parents will at least feign an interest in reading, even if they don’t particularly enjoy it themselves.

Learning to read at an appropriate age is important for a child’s development. There are different resources and steps to take to help your child learn to read, and even enjoy reading, depending on their age and abilities.

One of the first things that most parents do to start their children on the track to reading is reading them stories. Most parents will read to their children at different times through the day. Maybe it is a picture book that you go through with your infant during the day, or you might find that you read a story to your children before bed every night. Either way, showing your child that reading together is a great time to spend some family time is important. Many times, the child will learn their favorite stories by heart. At some point, they may even ask to read the bed time story themselves.

In preschool, many children start learning to read with small, easy to sound out words. Going over these words, and even having books at home to help your child continue to read is important. It may be frustrating at first. Sometimes, children think that they know the story, so they don’t actually pay attention to the words that are on the page. This is something that takes time and patience. Teaching someone to read can be a long, frustrating process, but it is most definitely worth it in the end.

Learning to write is one of the most important things that you learn as a child. Writing is an integral part of our world, and those that are not able to write have a very difficult time. Writing is not only something that you have to do at school, instead, it is almost a way of life. We write for almost everything today.

When you communicate with other people, unless you are directly talking to them, you will be writing. Especially with the advent of the Internet, more and more people are going to written communication as their norm. In fact, even companies are doing this today. Instead of going to talk to someone in your office, you may find that instead, you get an email, or an instant message.

Being able to write correctly is extremely important. In fact, it may be just as important as being able to write at all. Incorrect grammar, spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure shows that you are an educated person. It is extremely difficult to get a job in this day and age if you are unable to effectively communicate through writing.

With the popularity of things like “text speech” and “leet speak”, the art of correct writing may seem like it is being lost. Many short cuts are taken today when communicating with others. This is detrimental to those that take the short cuts. Taking short cuts in your written communications can, at first, seem like a way to save time and energy, but in the long run, it not only makes others see you as uneducated, it can also make your directions or communication unclear.

Learning how to write correctly and effectively is as important, if not more so, than learning how to read. The two go hand in hand. It is also extremely important to take these lessons into account, and use them on a daily basis.

Many people say that they do not like reading. In fact, a lot of people say, or even think, that they “can’t” read. In the majority of cases, this is completely not true. Though some people may not find reading for entertainment an enjoyable activity, reading in and of itself is something that almost everyone does on a very regular basis.

Because of this, learning to read is extremely important in our world today. Though you may not read the top 10 books of the year, you will find that in your job, as well as the world around you, you are most likely reading quite a bit each day. Even when you do something as simple as look at a billboard that you pass on the freeway, you are most likely unconsciously reading the writing on that billboard. When you go to a restaurant, you will read the menu. Even at the doctor’s office, you may find yourself bored while you are waiting, and pick up a magazine.

Reading is an integral part of our every day lives. If you were unable to read, there are many things that you would not be able to do, that you may take for granted. For example, if you couldn’t read, the internet would be something that would have no place in your life. You also wouldn’t be able to drive, because you would be unable to read the road signs. This would endanger not only yourself, but everyone else on the road, as well.

It is important to understand the difference between not enjoying reading as a form of entertainment, and not being able to read at all. Having trouble reading is one thing, but if you are completely unable to read, you will find that many doors are closed to you in this day and age.
